For those who may not be aware, RTX Remix is an NVIDIA platform that allows users to remaster older PC games by integrating ray tracing and other modern technologies. This week, the American company released RTX Remix 1.5.
The new version notably introduces RTX IO, an storage solution developed by NVIDIA enables faster resource streaming, reduces the load on the GPU, and makes installations more lightweight. The new compression options offer presets ranging from 1 to 16 GB.
As a result, games like Portal with RTX, Portal: Prelude RTX, and the Half-Life 2 RTX demo are now much smaller. For example, Portal has gone from 25 GB to 17 GB (-32%), and Half-Life 2 RTX from 80 GB to 50 GB (-37.5%).
