Back in 2013, Crystal Dynamics released a Tomb Raider that marked the beginning of the Survivor Trilogy, which concluded five years later with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This prequel arc depicts Lara Croft’s rise to become the iconic adventurer we know today.
And Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis builds upon this foundation. The remake of the saga’s first installment effectively builds upon the foundation laid by that famous trilogy. Jeff Adams, the director of experience at Crystal Dynamics, explained that “the Survivor Trilogy represents Lara’s past.”
The Lara we’ll play as in Legacy of Atlantis has been “shaped” by these experiences, without being held captive by them. She will retain “her physical strength, emotional authenticity, and the resilience she has gained over time.” So this is the same Lara, but with more experience.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be released on February 12, 2027, on PS5, XBOX Series, Switch 2, and PC.
