Rockstar Games has clarified that the free upgrade applies to the PS4 disc version as well as the digital version. Unfortunately, owners of the physical copy of GTA V on XBOX One are not eligible due to “limitations” of the Microsoft platform. On XBOX One, only the digital copy is compatible with this offer.

Rockstar Games has decided to make a gesture toward players who own a digital copy of GTA V on PS4 and XBOX One.
Starting this Thursday, June 18, 2026, owners of these versions will receive a free upgrade to the PS5 or XBOX Series X|S edition of the fifth installment in the series. This will allow them to enjoy the game at its best with all the technical improvements and additional features.
Additionally, PC players will also be able to make the jump from the Legacy edition of GTA V to the Enhanced one at no extra cost. Remember that Grand Theft Auto V is included in the GTA+ perks.
