On his X profile, Toshihiro Nagoshi now lists himself as a former member of Nagoshi Studio, which would confirm that the studio no longer exists.
Original article
The situation surrounding Nagoshi Studio and Gang of Dragon is certainly very unusual. After being announced at The Game Awards last December, the new game from the creator of Yakuza subsequently disappeared. NetEase reportedly withdrew its funding from the project, and the studio appears to have closed.
So far, we have no official statement confirming the cancellation of Gang of Dragon. However, yet another sign pointing in that direction has appeared in Famitsu. Toshihiro Nagoshi gave an interview to the Japanese magazine, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. A total of 52 creators are featured in this special issue.
While all are listed in connection with their current companies, this is not the case for Toshihiro Nagoshi, who is not listed alongside Nagoshi Studio. He is simply described as a “game creator” without any further details. While it’s essential to wait for an official announcement to know for sure, hopes of seeing Gang of Dragon released one day are fading more and more.
