HoYoverse has announced that Honkai: Nexus Anima is getting another beta test, starting July 9th. Its next closed beta, titled the Evolution Test, is playable on PC, iOS and Android, with registration open now.
How to sign up for the Honkai: Nexus Anima Evolution Beta Test
Signing up is straightforward. Head to the official website, pre-register, and complete the recruitment survey.
A selection of players from those who submit the survey will be granted access to the beta. There’s no guaranteed entry, so getting your application in sooner rather than later is advisable.
It’s worth noting that the Evolution Test is a limited, free closed beta with a data wipe, meaning any progress made during the test won’t carry over to the final release.
What’s new in the Evolution Test compared to the last beta?
The Evolution Test is a significant expansion on what was available previously in the last Nexus Anima beta.
You can expect new characters, new Anima, new regions and new gameplay systems. The starting area of Iia, a quiet town in the Reality Plane, has been fleshed out considerably, offering more exploration and content than before. There’s also the area known as ‘the New Quarter’, featuring commercial spaces and architectural landmarks now more fully realised and open for exploration.
New story content is also coming. Key figures from different factions appear in locations like Nexus Hall and the True Nexus Building, helping flesh out the world’s political and narrative complexity. New characters including Nanafey, Bai Mei and Olympia will also be introduced throughout the expanded storyline in the Evolution beta test.
On the creature-collecting side, the Anima evolution system is being expanded. Each Anima can now evolve beyond its starting form. Transformations are now framed as a reflection of the bond between player and companion deepening over time. Players can also photograph their Anima companions and give them custom names, with rare Chromatic Anima variants available as lucky encounter rewards. Think shinies, but still, it’s not exactly a Pokémon clone.
For those not already accustomed to it, Honkai: Nexus Anima is a creature-collecting adventure strategy game set in the wider Honkai universe. You collect and bond with creatures called Anima, each tied to paired Aspects such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, and Reality and Illusion. These Anima unlock different battle tactics and exploration abilities as you work through the game’s overworld and its various Planes.
