SAND: Raiders of Sophie, the open-world PvPvE extraction shooter from Hologryph and tinyBuild Games, launches into Early Access on Steam today, June 22nd.
It comes off the back of a Steam Next Fest playtest that peaked at around 12.5k concurrent players, a strong signal indeed that this is one to watch. That’s factoring in that Mistfall’s demo topped the charts at around 13k, and this game was supposed to launch 12 days ago, but had to delay thanks to its previous server slam test struggling.
For those who have been tracking its development, today is the day it finally arrives in a playable, purchasable state, and at the price point it’s launching at, the barrier to entry is pretty low. Throw in that it’s coming to consoles, with crossplay, and it’s likely a cheap investment for what could be a strong game after many years of building.

SAND puts players in control of giant customisable walking bases called Tramplers, which serve as your mobile fortress, loot storage and combat platform as you scavenge across post-apocalyptic desert dunes in an alternate 1910 setting.
It’s a PvPvE extraction game at its core, but one leaning heavily into the build and customisation side of things, with a full Trampler Editor letting you construct your walker from scratch. In a genre that can feel like a loot treadmill, SAND is pushing for more creative ownership over how you approach raids and extraction.
The game launches with two modes. Voyage is a persistent open-world experience with no time limit, with players deciding when to extract on their own terms. Storm Dive is the higher intensity battle royale-style mode with better loot, but a closing sandstorm forcing the action inward.
