The websites Kotaku and Insider Gaming report that layoffs have recently taken place at Electronic Arts. The number of employees affected has not been disclosed yet.
If we are to believe these initial reports, the layoffs affect U.S. employees working remotely and others based in India. No devs have been affected, as the layoffs took place in the IT, customer support, recruitment, and security departments. A memo sent to the teams explains that this decision was made to “adapt our work methods to better meet the changing needs of our fans.”
It’s worth noting that EA was acquired by the Saudi Public Investment Fund for $55 billion, though the deal has not yet been finalized.
