The Most Conspicuous Non-Discount In Steam’s Summer Sale

With Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ final update released and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s launch date coming next month, you may be wanting to take this chance to jump into Ubisoft’s nearly 20-year franchise. And thanks to Steam’s Summer Sale, you can do so for a significantly cheaper price than normal, as every game in the franchise has been heavily discounted. Well… almost every game. There is one notable exception. Yes, it’s the one you’re probably thinking of.

Every Assassin’s Creed on sale (and not!) during the Steam Summer Sale:

As you can see, Black Flag is the only game in the franchise to not get a discount. Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure has been $40 and continues to be $40.

If you’re willing to skip the 2.5D action-platformer Chronicles games, and only focus on the fully 3D action-adventure entries, you can also opt for the Assassin’s Creed Franchise Bundle, which is normally $517.36, but is 67 percent off for the Steam Summer Sale. That brings the price down to $169.27–that’s about $20 cheaper than just buying all 16 games separately.

If you only have time to play one of these games before the release of Black Flag Resynced on July 9 (which makes sense–some of these games are very, very long), then go for Shadows. While Black Flag takes place after Assassin’s Creed III, Shadows seems to imply Resynced may not be a simple remake, and more of a sequel-ish situation (similar to how Final Fantasy VII Remake is both a remake of the original game and a follow-up to the original game’s story). If that’s the case, Shadows, not Assassin’s Creed III, will lead directly into Black Flag Resynced with Shadows’ final free update, Black Tides, bridging the two games’ stories.
