The memory shortage caused by the strong demand for AI is having serious consequences for consumers. Prices have simply skyrocketed, and the gaming industry is bearing the brunt of it.
Unfortunately, we shouldn’t expect this trend to reverse anytime soon. That’s what Lenovo stated during its conference at ISC 2026. The company explains that RAM prices will likely never return to normal despite increased production capacity. Furthermore, the company noted that higher prices will become the norm starting in 2030.
As a result, all devices equipped with memory or even storage media are expected to become increasingly expensive in the coming years. It’s also worth noting that Micron has chosen to freeze its memory prices for five years, so there will be no price cuts until at least 2031.
