Things still aren’t looking up at Ubisoft. The French publisher is in the midst of a restructuring and is carrying out layoffs and studio closures in an effort to cut costs.
This week, we learned that the company’s Barcelona teams have been heavily affected by this situation. Ubisoft has decided to cut no fewer than 51 jobs at its Catalan facility. In protest, the studio’s employees have called for three weeks of partial strikes, from June 30 to July 17, 2026.
The employees are demanding “the immediate opening of negotiations” to ensure that the jobs affected by the layoffs are preserved. They also want “compliance with existing agreements regarding promotions and career advancement” and the reinstatement of a hybrid work model consisting of 60% remote work and 40% in-office work. Finally, a revision of the current pay scale is among their demands.new
