Following Sony’s announcement in January 2028 that it would stop producing physical discs, many chose to protest by canceling their PlayStation Plus subscriptions. In fact, some even encouraged everyone else to do the same.
Now, it appears that the Japanese company is trying to retain players by offering them a discount. On Reddit, one user reported receiving a 50% discount on three months of PlayStation Plus Extra after canceling their subscription. Meanwhile, the website Insider Gaming received a 25% discount on a one-year subscription to PlayStation Plus Essential.
It remains to be seen whether these are targeted offers or if all players who have recently canceled their subscriptions will receive such an offer.
