Though the studio is very busy working on Spyro: A Realm Beyond, expected in spring 2027, Toys for Bob would also like to work on another franchise that’s very popular with platformer fans.
In fact, during a podcast on the YouTube channel Kinda Funny Games, the studio’s executives revealed that their teams would be very interested in developing a new Banjo game in partnership with Microsoft. It’s worth noting that Toys for Bob was previously owned by Activision before regaining its independence in 2024. The developer is already collaborating with Xbox on the next Spyro game.
“It’s a franchise we love. As fans of platformers, Banjo is at the top of the list. We have big fans—huge fans—of this franchise on our team—I’m talking about the ones who have the Jiggie as their profile picture, you know the type. They’re that passionate. If the opportunity ever came up, it would be incredible. We love this franchise.
- If you look at the common thread running through the kinds of games we like to create, I can imagine this would be an integral part of that, too. I consider these characters timeless. They’re iconic, and I think the kinds of games we want to make are the ones that tap into a timeless place within the player as well, we call it the inner child. So, I think they’re wonderful games; we’re huge fans of them.”*
