Xbox is doing everything it can to turn things around with its major reset launched this week, which included the announcement of 3,200 layoffs and the sale of five studios. Now, the American company must figure out ways to bring players back into its ecosystem.
According to Bloomberg, Asha Sharma, the CEO of XBOX, is reportedly considering offering more exclusive titles on its consoles. These would be single-player blockbusters used to drive sales of the brand’s hardware. The next Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Halo titles could therefore be exclusive to Xbox. Conversely, multiplayer games are expected to remain multiplatform.
Another project the company is working on involves Minecraft. According to rumors reported by Windows Central, Microsoft could implement direct integration between Xbox and the Mojang title to help maintain this ecosystem.
This Bloomberg article also reveals that Microsoft reportedly spent nearly $80 billion on content deals for Game Pass. Instead of growing the service, this strategy has led to a loss of subscribers.
