After strong Gamescom Latam showing, Brazil Games is showcasing its South American flair to Cologne

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be whisked to gamescom Latam in Sao Paulo to see first hand the talent on show in the Brazilian megacity, Like many people I think that people don’t even realise there is a thriving Brazilian indie scene, although, judging by the number of big publishers sharking around for games to snap up, it might not be long before its secret reputation vanished for ever.

Gamescom Latam was vibrant, well organised, and dare I say it, probably more interesting than its European counterpart and it continues to grow year on year. It’s obvious though, as the main Gamescom continues to grown into the major gaming event in the Western calendar that to get noticed, you need to be there, so the Brazil Games and Abragames people are heading over to Germany to show what they are made of.

“Brazil continues to establish itself as an increasingly important partner for the global games industry,” said Patricia Sato, Executive Manager at Brazil Games. “Our work with ApexBrasil and Abragames is focused on creating real opportunities for Brazilian companies, from business meetings to visibility for new projects. Brazil has talent, technical capacity and a creative identity of its own, and we want the global market to see that up close.”

For the first time, Brazil Games will host a dedicated pavilion in gamescom’s Indie Area, offering emerging Brazilian studios and original IPs a new platform on the international stage.

The pavilion will unite initiatives supported by Brazil Games Accelerator, Embratur, and Sebrae-SP, with dozens of Brazilian-developed titles set to be showcased to global audiences throughout the event.

As the pavilion’s main exhibitor, Brazil Games Accelerator will present a curated selection of titles from its latest cohort, highlighting its work to support promising Brazilian studios with strong international growth potential.
