Nintendo Switch 2 Gains Momentum with New Game Releases and Updates

Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 sees a host of announcements with new game releases, updates, and special promotions as it gears up for its December launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is clearly taking center stage in the gaming community this October, as a flurry of announcements and updates indicate expanding momentum for the upcoming console. With several major releases, updates, and even a permanent Pokémon store in the works, Nintendo is ensuring that its player base has plenty to be excited about.

New Releases and Game Updates for Switch 2

Riders Republic, Ubisoft’s popular extreme sports game, will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, 2026 (My Nintendo News). This launch coincides with the game’s 5th anniversary and will be accompanied by a free trial available on all platforms from October 22-26. Meanwhile, Hitman: Absolution will also see a physical release on the Switch 2, allowing players to enjoy the entire game on cartridge, as announced by Limited Run Games (Nintendo Everything).

Cyberpunk 2077 also joins the lineup of evolving titles with the Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) set to arrive on the Switch 2. While other platforms will receive the update first, Switch 2 players can anticipate all features, including cross-platform mod support, in the following days (Nintendo Life).

The release train doesn’t stop there. Strange Scaffold’s I Am Your Beast, a slick revenge shooter, is out now on both the Switch 1 and 2 (Nintendo Life). Although currently missing from the EU eShop, the game is available in North America and offers a mix of unique gaming experiences inspired by previous works from Strange Scaffold.

Upcoming Titles and Promotions

On the horizon for the Switch and Switch 2 is the Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea expansion, set for release on November 18, 2026. This update promises new characters and storylines, adding Captain Hook and Wendy to its roster of villagers (Nintendo Everything).

In addition to these game releases, Nintendo is hosting a ‘Screaming Deals’ sale on both consoles’ eShops, ending on October 31st. This sale includes substantial discounts on numerous titles, many of which have been highly rated (Nintendo Life).

Beyond Console Releases

In a noteworthy move for Pokémon fans, The Pokémon Company has announced plans to establish a permanent Pokémon store in London by 2029, which marks the first of several such stores outside of Asia (Nintendo Life). This new venue aims to offer exclusive merchandise and unique experiences, elevating Pokémon’s presence further in the global market.
