Xbox urges developers to mend ways with gamerscore inflation tactics.
Today’s Xbox news revolves around a significant shift in policy from Xbox concerning the achievement system, alongside updates on classic game releases and notable patches for popular titles.
Xbox Targets Achievement System Exploitation
In a move aimed at maintaining the integrity of its achievement system, Xbox has taken a definitive stand against developers who exploit the system through “triple-stack” games. According to a report from Pure Xbox, developers have been advised to link different versions of their games to prevent the farming of “easy achievements,” a practice some developers have used to inflate gamerscores artificially. This directive indicates Xbox’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that achievements remain a genuine reflection of players’ skill and engagement with its games.
Retro Revival with Arcade Archives
For fans of classic gaming, the release of 12 Arcade Archives games over September and October offers a nostalgic trip back in time. Pure Xbox has rounded up these titles, which were somewhat covertly launched – described as being ‘shadow dropped’. These releases show Xbox’s ongoing interest in making retro gaming accessible to contemporary audiences, providing them with authentic touches of arcade history.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which has been remastered for the Xbox Series consoles, has received its final major update. As reported by Pure Xbox, this update introduces a New Game+ mode, nightmare difficulty, and other enhancements. This update marks the culmination of support for Black Flag Resynced, which garnered generally favorable reviews upon its re-release, demonstrating continued player interest in revisiting classic titles with fresh features.
