As Nintendo gears up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, several developments suggest an exciting time for fans of the series. Chief among them is the largely anticipated release of an Ocarina of Time remake for the upcoming Switch 2.
Pricing Mishap and Game Details
In an interesting turn of events, Nintendo Australia might have jumped the gun by inadvertently leaking the price of the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on the eShop. According to My Nintendo News, the digital version was briefly listed at AU$94.95, equivalent to $59.99 USD, before the listing was pulled down. This leak comes right before the official Zelda Direct event, where more details are expected.
In addition to the pricing information, Nintendo Life reports the estimated file size of this remake is set at 27GB. This significantly modernizes one of Nintendo’s most beloved games for a new era on the upcoming Switch 2.
Game Enhancements
According to Nintendo Everything, the remake isn’t just a facelift. It reportedly includes enhancements and changes that aim to retain the soul of the original N64 experience while updating it for modern players. However, details on specific changes remain sparse, awaiting clarification from official sources during the Zelda Direct.
Zelda-Themed Hardware
Nintendo is tapping into the nostalgia wave by introducing a special edition Switch 2 console and a Pro Controller decked out for Zelda’s 40th. As Nintendo Life reports, these are set to hit the shelves on October 29th, perfectly timed with the game’s release.
Additional Zelda Merch
Besides gaming hardware, a series of Zelda trading cards will also be released as part of the anniversary celebrations, according to Nintendo Life. These initiatives aim to enhance Nintendo’s engagement with the fan community, offering a tangible connection to the series they’ve grown up with.
Upcoming Announcements and Expectations
The leaks and announcements are leading to high expectations for the official Zelda Direct. Fans will be looking for confirmation of these details, along with any hidden surprises Nintendo might have in store. This event could prove pivotal in setting the tone for the Switch 2’s launch and build anticipation for other forthcoming announcements.
On a different note, although not directly related to Nintendo, a major Kingdom Hearts 4 leak surfaced, revealing new worlds for the game. While primarily a Square Enix franchise, its history with Nintendo platforms makes it a noteworthy tidbit for Kingdom Hearts enthusiasts.
