PS Plus Extra and Premium bring Mycopunk and a surprise Back 4 Blood DLC, while Final Fantasy Resonance sets the stage for JRPG fans.
The latest updates from the PlayStation world highlight some intriguing developments for PS Plus subscribers and JRPG enthusiasts. October’s PlayStation Plus lineup appears to focus heavily on cooperative and nostalgic titles, providing some appealing options for those looking to engage with new content this month.
PS Plus Extra and Premium Highlight Co-op and Popular Titles
This month, Sony spotlights co-op experiences on PS Plus Extra and Premium, with titles like Mycopunk and Back 4 Blood taking center stage. PlayStation Lifestyle reports that Mycopunk, an acclaimed co-op first-person shooter, debuts on consoles as a day-one title for subscribers on October 20, alongside titles like Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West.
Moreover, another report from the site highlights that PS Plus Extra members can download the Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror DLC for free starting October 21, extending until November 4. This surprise release will include hefty discounts on subsequent DLC packs, providing plenty of reasons for fans of cooperative zombie battles to consider a dive back into this title.
Upcoming Releases and Remasters
For fans of JRPGs, Push Square reveals that Final Fantasy Resonance has received its first review, showcasing significant buzz before its full launch on October 22. As Square Enix ventures into HD-2D aesthetics, the nostalgic appeal coupled with the classic RPG mechanics seems to resonate well with early critics.
Retro game enthusiasts have more to look forward to as Push Square reports the release of Dino Crisis 2 for PS5 and PS4. Available on October 20, this addition to the PS Plus Premium catalogue will offer classic gameplay with some modern conveniences, though Trophy support remains absent.
Old Classics and Hidden Gems
The trend of revitalizing older games continues with Skyrim receiving its largest DLC drop in recent memory on PS5. Push Square notes that these ‘Creations’—fan-made mods officially incorporated as paid expansions—bring fresh content to the venerable sandbox RPG.
Lastly, a noteworthy deal surfaces for those interested in seasonal gaming with Frogwares’ The Sinking City Remastered. PlayStation Lifestyle announces an 85% discount, pricing it under $10 on the PS Store until October 22, a steal for fans of spooky, investigative adventures.
