The Metro Redux titles now support 4K/60FPS on Xbox Series X|S, though they require starting fresh save files.
It’s a relatively quiet period in the Xbox ecosystem, with most developments being routine updates and enhancements rather than groundbreaking announcements. Still, there are a few items of interest for avid Xbox users.
Next-Gen Upgrades for Metro Redux
The standout news from this batch is the free next-gen upgrade for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. According to purexbox.com, these titles now support 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S. However, players might find themselves hesitating, as this upgrade requires them to start new games, with previous save files incompatible. It’s a rewarding enhancement for visuals, but at the cost of lost progress.
Game Pass and Free Play Days Offer New Experiences
Mouthwashing, a psychological horror game set in space, joins the Game Pass lineup, providing an unsettling experience from the get-go on Xbox consoles and PC. The game is available for streaming as part of your subscription, making it easy for horror enthusiasts to jump into it upon release, as reported by TheXboxHub.
The Free Play Days lineup, highlighted by news.xbox.com and purexbox.com, gives players the chance to try a variety of games without spending a dime. This weekend’s offerings include WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea, and EVERSPACE 2. Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight is available for everyone to try without needing any subscription.
Other Releases and Updates
Hunting Simulator 3 makes its entrance, challenging players to sharpen their senses, as detailed by TheXboxHub. The Wolf Among Us Remastered reintroduces players to Bigby with improved graphics and extra content, offering a refreshed narrative experience (TheXboxHub).
A whimsical if somewhat unusual report from purexbox.com mentions GTA 6, highlighting “dog poop” gameplay teased through South Park. While certainly quirky content, the anticipated launch of the game is the true backdrop, which will surely capture widespread attention among Xbox Series X|S owners soon.
Lastly, Crimson Desert expands with a new update, Charting the Unknown, adding storylines and exploration features while offering a substantial trial period until January 2027, as noted by news.xbox.com.
