Baldur’s Gate 3 players absolutely adore the user-generated mods, as Larian Studios has released the eye-watering number of times they’ve been downloaded.
Baldur’s Gate 3 official mod support was released in 2024, first coming to PC, before making the jump to consoles. While there is no means of creating new levels and storylines, there are tons of ways to add spells, classes, subclasses, playable races, items, and alter existing character models.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Developer Shift “Full Attention” To Next Game
Larian Studios will enter a media blackout for the foreseeable future as they work on their next game.
The popularity of the mods has been staggering, but fans had no idea how much until today. A new community post on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website has revealed that there are over ten thousand mods available, and they’ve been downloaded over three hundred and fifty million times by players.
The Biggest Baldur’s Gate 3 Mods
Larian Studios has revealed the mods it likes the most, as they’ve been used in Larian: Channel of Hell streams. Naturally, Withers Big Naturals made an appearance, as it’s one of the most popular mods ever released for Baldur’s Gate 3, for two big reasons.
The mods were mainly cosmetic, such as making the party bald, adding legally distinct laser swords that in no way infringe on the copyright of certain sci-fi franchises, and giving Scratch a pair of dinosaur pajamas.
There were also a few gameplay ones, such as introducing a car form for Wild Shape, as well as grenade launchers that make short work of the denizens of this medieval-inspired fantasy world.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 modding community has come up with some incredible content in such a short period of time. Now that fans have ways to access level creation, it’s only a matter of time until they’re creating full-fledged spin-offs, sequels, and homebrew campaigns in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
