The Canadian Game Awards Announce A Handful Of Community Partnerships For 2026

According to the team behind the sixth iteration of The Canadian Game Awards, the big night is about more than just games; it’s also about celebrating the meaningful partnerships and community-driven initiatives that strengthen Canada’s gaming ecosystem.

“The Canadian Game Awards has always been about more than just celebrating games — it’s about celebrating the people, communities, and causes that make this industry so special,” said Carl-Edwin Michel, founder of the Canadian Game Awards, in a press release sent to us. “These partnerships and initiatives reflect our belief that games can be a powerful force for connection, creativity, and positive change.”

This year, the organizing committee is sharing a handful of partnerships that will ensure this year’s awards gala has an impact beyond the evening of May 21.

The Canadian Game Awards is committing to collaborations with Make-A-Wish Canada, Hand Eye Society, and the Canadian Podcast Awards. The Canadian Game Awards would like these partnerships to share a year-long mission to uplift communities, amplify creative voices, and create lasting positive change.

The Canadian Game Awards aims to help bring joy and unforgettable experiences to children facing critical illnesses through Make-A-Wish Canada; helping beginner developers grow their creative powers through Hand Eye Society; and finally, commit to community through the Canadian Podcast Awards.

The 2026 edition of the Canadian Game Awards — which takes place in the John W. H. Bassett Theatre located in the heart of downtown Toronto — will also spotlight the “Community Awards” category. A new awards subsection dedicated to recognizing individuals, organizations, and grassroots initiatives that have made a meaningful impact within the Canadian gaming landscape. From community builders to advocates and innovators, these awards shine a light on those who help make the industry more inclusive, supportive, and inspiring.

The Canadian Game Awards 2026 gala will be held live on Thursday, May 21, from 8 PM to 10 PM. Tickets are still available.
