Call Of Duty: Warzone For Last-Gen Consoles Is Being Delisted Next Week, Will Go Offline In October

While the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 soaks up headlines, there’s some bad news lurking beneath: Warzone is being taken offline for last-gen players.

According to Activision, Call of Duty: Warzone will be delisted on Xbox One and PS4 on June 4, meaning you can longer buy it. It will then be playable “through the end of Season 06 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7“, at which point it will be taken offline completely. That’s roughly around the time Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23.

Activision says this is so Warzone can be properly integrated into Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The new entry in the series does not support PS4 or Xbox one consoles – it’s a current-gen only game, launching on Xbox Series, PS5, PC and Switch 2.

The fact that Call of Duty is finally embracing current-gen has been a source of celebration for some people as it should allow the developers more room to build.

But it’s a decision that is going to leave a lot of players stranded. Warzone still brings in millions and millions of players monthly. We don’t have exact numbers, but consider for a moment that a year or two ago half of PlayStation’s active users were still on a PS4. Even if that number has been steadily climbing in favour of PS5, there’s still going to be a lot of PS4 and Xbox One users left unable to access Warzone.
