Herdling is a brand-new Cozy games that will constantly have you wishing you could just leave the city to take care of some adorable fluffy monsters. It isn’t a grand or overly dramatic game, but it certainly is cute as can be.
The game lets you decorate your Calicorns with various items you can find scattered about each level of the game. One of these items is far rarer and linked to three achievements: harnesses.
There are six in total hidden throughout the levels of the game. They aren’t incredibly out of the way, but they could easily be missed if you aren’t paying attention, which is easy with the cute Calicorns everywhere.
What do Harnesses do?
Well, gameplay-wise, they don’t do anything, as far as I can tell. They literally exist to make your Calicorns look even more distinguished from the herd.
You can put them on whichever Calicorn you want, big or small, and it will create a structure around the horns and head of the Calicorn. It’ll change depending on the horns of each Calicorn it’s put on, and doesn’t affect any other decorations you put on your fuzzy friends.
Once on a Calicorn, it cannot come off.
Harness Locations
As I said previously, there are six total harnesses you can get. They won’t begin to appear until Chapter Three, so just try to focus on getting to the forest if you haven’t already.
There’s only one in chapter three, while the other five are divided up between the two biggest chapters, five and six. All of them will be tied to the same statue, so if you look for that specifically, you’ll have an easier time.
Chapter 3 Harness
The first harness should be on the right of the campfire area and will just be up on a platform you’ll need to climb onto from the ramp on its left side.
Once you’ve got it, you can head on down and give it to one of your Calicorn. You can also play catch in this area with the ball on the opposite side of the statue from the harness.
Chapter 5 First Harness
This one will be right next to the big Calicorn you find while discovering a painting. You’ll need to enter from the bottom side of the structure by having a Calicorn help you out.
Once on the path, you’ll need to follow it to find the Calicorn, Harness, and yellow flower summoning idol. You should run into this no matter what, but you could miss it if the Calicorn manages to cover it up.
Chapter 5 Second Harness
If you get past the birds and happen to have a hurt Calicorn, you’ll shortly come upon a statue surrounded by the birds. Once you fix the statue and get rid of the birds, you should spot an archway that leads a bit off the cliff.
At the back of the path under this arch is another harness. Grab it and adorn another Calicorn in your herd.
Chapter 6 First Harness
After you lose your herd, you’ll need to collect them all. Just before the large structure, you should see another mid-sized statue.
That statue should be where you find the harness. Once you collect it, you can give it to a Calicorn and head off to find the next one that you need.
Chapter 6 Second Harness
This one is just next to the painting you’ll activate once you move the large walkway into the empty space. Run up the side closest to the yellow flower summoning statue and then make your way to the painting.
Once you manage to do that, the statue with the harness should be directly behind you. Grab it and jump down, then grace another Calicorn with the beauty of customization.
Chapter 6 Third Harness
The final Harness for the game is located at the last fire on the right side of the room, next to the fire area. Once you grab it, you should be all set to move on and finish the game. And that’s it!
Herdling isn’t an incredibly complex or long game, but it is very relaxing for the most part. The game has many cozy game elements, but it can be difficult due to how controlling your herd can be.
If you’ve followed this guide up to this point, you should have acquired three total achievements: The Fashionista, Highly Decorated, and Collector. Now you’ll be one step closer to finishing the Herdling with 100% completion.
