It seems PUBG isn’t interested in letting Fortnite dominate when it comes to brainrot, and is trying to get some of that for itself.
Krafton announced in a press release (via TheSixthAxis) that they have brought a new crossover to PUBG Mobile, with the PC version following on October 22 and consoles on October 30 as the game’s Halloween event.
This new collab brings in the infamous YouTube series Skibidi Toilet, and will pit players alongside the Alliance against an invasion by Skibidi and Astro Toilets.
Bringing Brainrot To PUBG: Battlegrounds
The Skibidi Toilet event includes a special Arcade mode where players defend the world against an invasion by the titular hybrid toilets alongside the humans with cameras, TV screens, and speakers instead of heads of the Alliance, in the form of a PvE boss battle.
There will also be an Event Pass available for purchase that will include outfits and cosmetics inspired by the series.
While PUBG isn’t as known for its crossovers as Fortnite, and they are significantly fewer and farther between, it has had its fair share of them, mostly in the mobile version.
The mobile game has had collab events with the likes of Tekken, Dead by Daylight, and even the anime series Black Lagoon, among others.
That’s not the only way that PUBG wants some of Fortnite’s cake, either, as Krafton has expressed interest in turning the game into a “gameplay platform” in the same way that Fortnite is.
It makes some sense for Krafton to be trying to capture some of Fortnite’s thunder, considering that even though PUBG popularized the battle royale genre, it has dropped off many people’s radar as the genre expanded with more polished, varied titles.
This collab in particular seems like a pretty obvious attempt to grab the attention of Fortnite’s younger playerbase, but we’ll need to wait and see if it has any impact on PUBG’s numbers.
It feels like Skibidi Toilet has been coming up a lot in connection to games lately, but at least this time it’s with a real, licensed collab instead of just a meme mod made out of spite.
