Silent Hill and Resident Evil are two of the most iconic horror franchises that go way back. While both series were quite active since their launch till 2012, the latter, even if slow, still had some pipeline and made a comeback with RE7 and later became popular again with the RE2 Remake in 2019.

However, this wasn’t the case for Silent Hill; the series had been in a drought for more than a decade. Now, add to it the extra damage that fans received after PT got announced, only to be canceled. It wasn’t until last year, when the Silent Hill 2 remake was released, that any hope for the series was restored. And it seems like this lack of new games has done some damage to some die-hard fans.

Enter Silent Hill f. This game has Very Positive reviews on Steam, and our review, along with many others, shares the same notion that this game has definitely revived the series for good.

Naturally, not everyone agrees with this sentiment, which is fine—there are various reasons why one may not like the game. But the problem happens when people start attacking each other personally, which is what is going on in r/silenthill, and the moderators have decided to crack down on the toxicity.

r/silenthill Moderators Crack Down On The Toxicity Surrounding Silent Hill f

Reddit mod u/IlgnerJuan recently made a post with the caption “Starting today, we will be cracking down on the toxicity in this community.” on r/silenthill.

They describe how the mods “keep receiving reports and modmails of members doing personal attacks, insults and other offensive comments in several posts/discussions.” To make matters worse, some people started to abuse the report feature to falsely accuse others.

The mods have requested the community to be civil and respectful of each other. And even threatened to “permanently ban users who keep engaging in unhealthy discussions, trolling, ragebaiting and attacking those who are trying to have a normal discussion.”

From the look of things, it doesn’t seem like there was any particular post that caused this crackdown to happen, but rather frequent behavior by a few bad apples.

Not all is bad, though, because we got this interaction when mod u/IlgnerJuan commented how, with the time passing by, “this toxicity is becoming my own Silent Hill, lol.” To which Reddit user u/qwertyalguien quoted Silent Hill 2:

In my restless dreams,

I see that sub.

But you never did.

It goes without saying, no matter how much you liked or disliked Silent Hill f, going personally after someone for their opinion (no matter how outlandish it may be) is just sad.

If anything, this has been the best month for gaming, and if you have time to argue with someone, it would be better if you spend it playing Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Dying Light: The Beast, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, or any of these games instead.
