The best gun in Tormented Souls 2 is the shotgun, and it’s not even close. With its powerful bullets, the shotgun is capable of taking out many of the game’s enemies in one or two hits.
However, it’s possible for players to completely miss the shotgun altogether. It’s hidden away in an optional area and locked behind a confusing puzzle that may throw some players for a loop.
The shotgun is a must-have for players who want to feel more powerful. Read further to learn where to find the shotgun and how to unlock it by completing the bell puzzle in Tormented Souls 2.
How to Get the Shotgun in Tormented Souls 2
Before we can reach the shotgun’s location in Tormented Souls 2, we must first find the hammer in the basement area of the Convent.
Inside the Crematorium of the basement, you’ll find the hammer sticking out of the skull of a dead nun. If you’re unsure where the Crematorium is, check the image below for its location.
As a reminder, the Crematorium is the room where the old man asks you to find a book for him.
After finding the hammer, we can now officially head to the shotgun’s location. With the hammer in your inventory, go to the Bell Tower and make your way up the stairs to the highest level.
About a third of the way up the stairs, you will encounter two glass vases that are blocking your path. Take out your hammer and destroy the glass vases to create an opening, allowing you to reach the top of the Bell Tower.
Once you’re at the top of the Bell Tower, take the ladder to reach the room above, where there will be a glass container that contains the shotgun. In order to open the container and acquire the shotgun, we have to solve the bell puzzle.
How to Solve the Bell Puzzle in Tormented Souls 2
Since the glass of the container holding the shotgun is too sturdy, using a hammer or even shooting it won’t work. Instead, we need to hit the bells in the correct order to create a certain sound frequency that will shatter the glass.
The solution to the bell puzzle is explained in the images below. You can hit the bells by equipping your hammer and swinging at them.
To put the image above into words, the solution to the bell puzzle is: North, West, East, South. If you accidentally hit the wrong bell and need to restart the puzzle, just wait for the bells to stop making sound and then try again.
After hitting the last bell, the glass will shatter, and you can grab the shotgun. As you make your way down the Bell Tower, the game will throw a couple of enemies at you, allowing you to test out the power of the shotgun.
I recommend assigning the shotgun to your shortcuts bar, so you always have easy access to it. Keep in mind that the shotgun can only fire one shot before needing to reload it, so always be prepared to hit that reload button after every single shot.
