Rare: The Open Doors We May Not be Meant to Walk Through

Microsoft has made studio acquisitions one of their top priorities from the very beginning, and one of their first major purchases was “Rare”, a team known for creating hits for Nintendo such as Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Banjo-Kazooie. But while Rare has continued to develop new titles for Xbox, they have yet to achieve the same level of success they were experiencing when crafting games for Nintendo’s platforms. While the money that Microsoft offered to buy them was substantial, accepting that offer took Rare away from their best destiny… an open door doesn’t always mean that we are meant to walk through it.

Most of the worst decisions I’ve made in my life was because I walked through a door that was opened to me without consulting with the Lord first, and that has always led to heartbreak and pain for myself as well as many others. One of the main purposes of prayer is for us to receive guidance and direction for every decision we make in life, making the space for the Lord to give us the discernment we need to make wise choices. Many doors will be opened to us in life, and some may even appear to be answers to our prayers on the surface. But only the Lord sees the full path that they’ll take us on, so let’s stop and listen for His voice of confirmation today.

Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord. Joshua 9:14

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
