Where Winds Meet can be a pretty confusing experience when you first load into the game. The Map is rather huge, and there are quite a few things that aren’t explained properly. Even trying to find these things can be challenging due to the vast number of menus and interfaces.
But fear not. You might have noticed that small red circle in the top left of your screen, as well as your character suffering upon standing still. This means you’ve got a status ailment that can’t be cured simply by using your medicine. If you let this go on for too long, you’ll start seeing pretty debilitating side effects.
Here, I’ll go through the simple method of getting through the condition in the quickest way possible, so you can get back to playing.
Types of Illness
There are several types of illnesses that you can contract simply by playing through the game. Common ones you might have encountered are ones like miasma from the purple flowers, or simply a sprain from falling from too high a height. If you take a lot of damage in combat, this can negatively affect you, too!
While at first, these might not seem to impede your character too much, if you let these problems go on for too long, they can have long-lasting consequences as your condition evolves, or rather, devolves. This can lead to stat loss, consistent health loss, or worse. So as soon as you see that little red symbol, get to a clinic ASAP.
Where To Find a Clinic
First things first, you’re going to want to head over to the Evercare Clinic, just south of the Blissful Retreat. You’ll encounter this area simply by playing through the storyline.
Head over to Yao Yaoyao, and she will be happy to treat you… for a fee, of course. Continue through her dialogue, and you will see a cutscene where she treats your illness.
While 10,000 coins does sound like quite a lot, you’ll soon come to realise that the normal currency is really easy to acquire in this game, and it’ll save you a lot of hassle later down the road.
If you’re playing online, you can also request help from other players who have experience with Healing. Some illnesses and more advanced conditions can’t be cured by a simple doctor.
Other Clinical Benefits
If you continue speaking with the healer, you will also see that you can upgrade your Medicine Chest by giving her Medicinal Tales.
These items can be found simply by exploring the world, completing quests, and opening chests found in dungeons. By the time you speak with Yao Yaoyao, you’ll probably have a few without realising. It’s good to upgrade this as much as possible, as you’ll quickly find you can hold many at once.
The medicine chest can be upgraded to a maximum of level 13, which will allow you to carry 5 healing items at once! However, you won’t unlock this level until way later in the game, so don’t worry about grinding it out. If you’re ever struggling with a difficult boss, try to upgrade your healing capabilities for an easier time, or learn how to parry well. That will make those pesky bosses a breeze!
