
Los Angeles always has a plethora of events going down at every corner. Whether it’s a convention or some local stand-up comedy, there’s always something to do if you’re looking to leave the house. We look at some of the best events going down in Los Angeles this week (March 23 through March 29).
Tuesday, March 24
Hands!: A New Play @ The Elysian Theater (1944 Riverside Dr.)
Doors: 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. (tickets)
Live cooking play Hands! will make its grand return to The Elysian Theater after a sold-out performance at last year’s Spaghetti Festival. The play follows Chef Jay cooking treats for the audience while dealing with life’s obstacles. Hands! will have performances on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 25) at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Livestream tickets will be available for the 9:30 p.m. show on Wednesday.
Thursday, March 26
Bad Omens, Beartooth @ Kia Forum (3900 W Manchester Blvd.)
Doors: 6 p.m. (tickets)
A few tickets remain for Bad Omens’ biggest headlining show in Los Angeles. Last year, the metalcore band unveiled a handful of singles, including chart toppers “Specter” and “Dying to Love.” Beartooth and President will open.
F**k This Month @ UCB Theatre (5919 Franklin Ave.)
Doors: 8:15 p.m. (tickets)
Improv group F**k This Month will deliver improv performances based on the audience’s horrible month. The cast for Thursday’s show includes Tommy Bowe, Betsy Sodaro, Bente Engelstoft, Suzi Barrett, Eli Gonzalez, Lauren Knutti, and Jeff Whitaker.
Friday, March 27
Meldrop, Lavalove @ Moroccan Lounge (901 1st St.)
Doors: 6:30 p.m. (tickets)
Seattle/Tacoma indie rock group Meldrop will make their way to the Moroccan Lounge in support of their latest Melodaze EP. Lavalove will be the opening act. Our recent interview with Meldrop drummer Elijah Tuncap can be found here.
Saturday, March 28
Life Is Shorts: An Hour of Comedy Films @ UCB Theatre – Annex (925 N Bronson Ave.)

Members of the UCB community will showcase their best short films during Life Is Shorts: An Hour of Comedy Films. Some of the comedy films being shown at the event include Wrong Dog (directed by Sam Jae Montoya, Cory Willis, and Rohit Sharma) and Possession (directed by Ryan Meharry and Casey Feigh).
Sunday, March 29
FemFest @ The Echo (1822 W Sunset Blvd.)
Doors: 6 p.m. (tickets)
FemFest will take over The Echo this Sunday to showcase a slew of female artists. Acts set to perform include Turning Jane, 12 Gauge Trixie, The Blushes, WALLIS, and Dear Elise.
Speakeasy and Whoops @ The Pack Theater (1615 North Vermont Ave.)

Pack Theater sketch comedy teams Speakeasy and Whoops will join forces for a night of hilarity. The cast for Speakeasy features Hunter Canedy, John Dardenne, Sean Hannah, Lily Holleman, Matt Kempner, Gabi Marler, Shalimar Malimban, Matt Manser, Jordan Moeller, Vladimir Perez, Jackie Reilly, Giuseppe Restrepo, and Katie Stone. The cast for Whoops includes Joseph Dailey, Shawn Duenas, Jessy Greer, Sadie & Jack Katz, Colin Jamerson, Bethany Meagher, Andrew Mena, Amanda Romeo, Andrew Parker Scott, Lucy Slavin, Charis Tshihamba, and Gavin Velez.
