Fallout season 3 adds Aaron Paul as mysterious new character

Breaking Bad and Westworld alum Aaron Paul is joining the cast of Fallout for its upcoming third season, Prime Video announced Monday. Based on one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, the TV adaptation has topped the charts when it comes to viewership and fan enthusiasm.

After making an appearance at the Fallout season 2 private London screening in late 2025, fans were abuzz that Paul might be joining the cast for future seasons. In an interview with IGN, executive producer Jonathan Nolan was asked if any actors of note had come forward since the show started to express interest in joining the cast. Nolan replied, “Yeah, Aaron Paul was at the premiere, a human being I love so much. And he was very polite. He was very enthusiastic about the show.”

Nolan, along with fellow Fallout producer Lisa Joy, previously worked with Paul on HBO’s Westworld. Joining that show for its third season as well, Paul played Caleb Nichols, a war veteran and former construction worker who became a main antagonist in its final two seasons. Fan theories abound as to what pre-existing character Paul might play in Fallout, with New Vegas’ The Courier a popular choice for fancasters.

With a cast that includes stars like Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, and Walton Goggins, it’s a feat in itself that the Fallout lineup grows more impressive by the season. In addition to Paul, Annabel O’Hagan (Vault 33 resident Stephanie Harper) and Dave Register (Vault 33 gatekeeper Chet) are officially joining as regular cast members for season 3.
