Shift Up teases new details on Stellar Blade sequel and Project Spirits

Shift Up has shared a new update on both the Stellar Blade sequel and its brand-new IP Project Spirits, with the studio confirming that more details on both projects will arrive sometime during 2026.

The announcement comes from the company’s Q1 2026 financial results, where Shift Up outlined its future roadmap following the strong success of Stellar Blade. According to the report, development on the sequel is progressing smoothly, with the team focusing heavily on maintaining high quality standards as production continues.

As we previously reported, a big change for the sequel is that Shift Up plans to publish the game. The studio believes this will give it more direct control over marketing and help showcase the game’s universe and style to a wider global audience from day one:

We intend to self-publish (first-party service) both the next Stellar Blade title and UNBOUND’s titles. To support this, we are continuously bringing on board global talent with experience in launching and operating major titles worldwide.

The opportunity to directly publish the next Stellar Blade and UNBOUND titles on a global scale is proving to be a compelling draw for top industry professionals, enabling us to rapidly strengthen our in-house publishing capabilities.

At the same time, the developer also provided a small update on Project Spirits, previously known internally as Project Witches. The upcoming title is described as a cross-platform “Eastern Fantasy” game currently in development on Unreal Engine 5 for PC, consoles, and mobile devices.

Project Spirits is reportedly being co-developed with a Tencent affiliate and is currently targeting a 2027 release window. While official gameplay details are still limited, some early reports have suggested the game may include turn-based elements similar to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

For now, Shift Up is keeping most details under wraps, but with both projects scheduled for more reveals in 2026, fans of Stellar Blade will likely have plenty to look forward to over the next year.
