The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 lineup was full of announcements, more than two dozen games highlighting the console’s next year — with a couple of surprises. The biggest one is that Xbox is rolling back its multiplatform strategy and launching some of its biggest new games on Xbox Series X exclusively, including Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution. Other reveals include the charming summer simulator Vivarium and a very, very short look at Persona 6.
If you couldn’t watch the presentation, here’s everything announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2026, including trailers, release dates, and other highlights.
Gears of War: E-Day has a release date — and it’s an Xbox exclusive
Xbox had a whole after-show dedicated to Gears of War: E-Day, but still kicked off its June showcase with an extended look at the game’s opening sequence. The segment also revealed the release date: Gears of War E-Day launches on October 8. While Microsoft had originally planned to release it on PS5 as well, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said it’s an Xbox exclusive again. There will be no Gears of War E-Day on PS5.
Playground showed off Fable’s dark side
Fable might be delayed, but Playground had a new Fable trailer — a rather different one from before. She’s an anti-hero with a grudge against the phony do-gooders angling for the spotlight. It’s the first proper glimpse of Fable‘s story. In a post on Xbox Wire, Playground Games confirms she will indeed be playing the game’s villain.
