During its Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft confirmed the return of exclusives. Indeed, Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be released only on Xbox Series X|S and PC. PS5 players will not have access to these games.
This marks a reversal of the situation, as insider Jeff Grubb claims that a finished PS5 version of The Coalition’s shooter is “sitting on a hard drive” at the studio. Additionally, a post on the Xbox Wire website states that “games already announced for multiplatform release will follow this plan.”
During an interview with Gamertag Radio, Matt Booty, Head of Content at Xbox, stated that console exclusives are intended to give players a reason to buy an Xbox console. However, “service games” like State of Decay 3 will continue to be fully multiplatform.
Finally, regarding future XBOX games, the decision to make them exclusive or not will be made on a case-by-case basis.
