Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Summer Game Fest Preview – Rise to the Challenge!

True to series’ form, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve features an experience that blends together high-octane arcade action and an immersive world dripping with drama.

Taking part in its Campaign Mode during Summer Game Fest Play Days, our time in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve had us taking to the skies in no time with comrades Tasha and Baxter (aka “Professor”) as we reclaimed our lost homeland as the titular Wings of Theve.

For those who have yet to play an Ace Combat title – or are a little rusty like us (we’ll fess up) – Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve features intuitive controls that allow for the most daring of dogfights across Strangereal’s many battlefields.

Different radar types, multiple missile types, and controls that provide easy mobility allowed us to find our groove before too long as we took out hostile targets – and used defensive tactics to avoid being targeted and taken down ourselves. 

We were also able to send commands to our teammates to properly make sure the mission was accomplished – we made sure to properly uitilize the “Forward Attack” command to swiftly take down targets! It’s important to be mindful of the mission at all times – its world is one of many vantage points that requres one’s full attention.

For the ace pilots among us soaring high for decades, a dedicated control scheme is also available in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve just waiting to be put to the test.

The living skies of Strangereal are set to provide the ultimate experience for ace pilots when Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches for PC and consoles this October.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on October 2.
