The situation regarding memory prices is alarming, to say something. The shortage continues and could even worsen in the coming months. As always, consumers will bear the brunt of this, with prices likely to skyrocket even further.
In a statement to Bloomberg, Yazan Aldehayyat, an engineer at Valve, painted a very concerning picture of the situation.
“Honestly, it’s still getting worse. Just in case people are not aware. What people are seeing on retail shelves right now, from our observations, is lagging what we’re seeing from a bulk supply by at least three to six months.”
Furthermore, another engineer named Pierre-Loup Griffais noted that the crisis is affecting the number of units the American company can produce.
“We’re basically building everything we can. We’re limited by memory capacity, for sure.”
In other words, the coming weeks are shaping up to be very difficult.
