Fairgame$, one of Sony’s in-development live-service projects, appears to be digging itself further into trouble. Following a report earlier this year that the title had been delayed, a major blow was struck to developer Haven Studios, as its founder had left the company even before it managed to ship its first game.
Today’s news paints a bleaker picture for the game if it’s even possible, as another key member has left.
This has all happened with Sony failing to provide an update on Fairgam$’ status.
Fairgame$ Loses Key Member Without Any Explanation
The key member who left is none other than the game’s director, Daniel Drapeau, who announced his new position at WB Games Montreal as its new Creative Director on LinkedIn (via Game Rant). “As of this week, I joined WB Games Montreal Inc. as Creative Director. I can’t wait to start this wonderful adventure with all the great people here at the studio,” the developer shared on his LinkedIn wall.
Checking Drapeau’s job history, it mentions that he was the Game Director at Haven Studios from March 2021 to August 2025.
This is another dark mark for the PlayStation first-party game in development, which now raises eyebrows about whether it’s canceled or not. We haven’t heard anything about it since its official reveal at the PlayStation Showcase back in May 2023.
This is yet another blow to Sony’s live-service plans. While Helldivers 2 managed to shatter expectations, that was offset by the colossal failure that was Concord, which shut down its servers a mere two weeks after release.
Not only that, but even Sony’s other live-service game, Marathon, is not going as smoothly as planned, as the game has been delayed indefinitely, with Sony seeking to seize more control of Bungie.
Earlier this year, news broke that Sony also canceled two live service projects from first-party studios, Bend and Bluepoint Games.
Should Sony give up on its live-service dreams? Or more importantly, should Sony even consider releasing Fairgame$ at this point given its development troubles?
