In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you’ll enter some pretty dangerous Wild Zones. This is where a majority of your creature hunting will happen, as numerous legendary and familiar creatures from the Pokémon franchise roam around these parts.
Wild Zone 2 is a touch trickier, as it’s the first one to introduce the concept of Pokémon spawning under certain conditions. So, in order to fully conquer Wild Zone 2, you’ll need to do some extra work.
It’s worth it, however, as Wild Zone 2 has some pretty nifty little critters for you to get your hands on. Some of my favorite Pokémon are in Wild Zone 2, so let’s get after them.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through finding each Pokémon. I’ll also help you catch a sneaky little Staryu who is hiding, only appearing under specific circumstances.
All Pokémon Found In Wild Zone 2
These are all the Pokémon you can find in Pokémon Legends Z-A Wild Zone 2:
- Budew
- Magikarp
- Binacle
- Kakuna
- Patrat
- Staryu
Getting You A Budew
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Roselia with high Friendship, Roserade with a Shiny Stone |
|
Type |
Grass/Poison |
When you enter Wild Zone 2, head to the left. There’s some tall grass here, where another trainer is teaching you to sneak by using the tall grass.
Budew shouldn’t pose much threat, so just sneak up and toss a Poke Ball.
Budew is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon, so if you do battle them, they are weak to many types, including Fire and Poison.
As a combatant, Budew has their uses. They are rather efficient against Rock, Water and Ground-types, so grab them if you think they’ll be of use.
The Road To Gyarados
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Gyarados at 20 |
|
Type |
Water |
Everyone wants a Gyarados, but it still seems like people are confused by how to get one. Your first step is Magikarp.
After you’ve got Budew, you’ll see a bridge with some Magikarp underneath. They’ll detect you pretty easily, then flop up to confront you.
They are rather pitiful at this stage, and have no attack worth mentioning, so just Poke Ball them.
Magikarp is a Water-type that is strong against Fire, Ground and Rock. Once it hits level 20, it will evolve into Gyarados, although you can speed up this process with candy, as well.
Grabbing A Binacle
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon X and Y |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Barbaracle at 39 |
|
Type |
Rock/Water |
Across the bridge where you got your Magikarp, you’ll see a Binacle roaming around on a little island by themselves.
As a Rock/Water-type, Binacle is weak to several different types, including Fighting and Ground. Either sneak up on them or battle them, then lock them into your Pokédex.
Binacle is a dual-type Pokémon that is strong against Fire, Rock and Ice, making him a formidable threat for your team. His evolution at 39 also transforms him into one of the most prominent physical strikers in your party.
Missed Out On Weedle? Get Yourself A Kakuna
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Beedrill at 10 |
|
Type |
Bug/Poison |
You can actually grab the earlier evolution of Kakuna, Weedle, in Wild Zone 1. Fear not, as if you missed your shot, you can get Kakuna here.
Once you’ve grabbed Binacle, cross the bridge and head all the way around the circle. You’ll spot Kakuna hanging out on a tree, so he’s pretty easy to catch.
Kakuna is a Bug/Poison-type, which makes him strong against Grass, Dark and Psychic-types. He evolves into Beedrill at 10, and is easily one of the coolest-looking Pokémon in the franchise.
Give Yourself A Patrat On The Back
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon Black and White |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Watchog at 20 |
|
Type |
Normal |
There are a couple ways to get Patrat. The easiest is to just hit him with a Poke Ball from the location where you got Binacle, as he’s hanging out on a little outcropping to the left.
If you want to get closer, you can take off from where you got Kakuna. Behind you, you’ll find a staircase that leads you to him.
As a Normal-type, Patrat is crushingly weak to Fighting-types. Lucario or Pancham will annihilate him.
Normal-type Pokémon are rather decent all-rounders, and are also completely immune to Ghost-types.
Starmie? Staryu!
|
First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
|---|---|
|
Evolves Into |
Starmie with Water Stone |
|
Type |
Water |
In order to get Staryu to spawn, it needs to be nighttime. So, begin by finding a bench and resting until nightfall.
Warp back to Wild Zone 2, then run all the way around to the other entrance that’s on the opposite side. From here, you’ll spot Staryu. They spawn in a few different locations in the water, so you should be able to toss a Poke Ball with no problem.
Staryu is a strong Water-type Pokémon, and can become incredibly effective against Fire and Ground types. You can also evolve Staryu into Starmie with a Water Stone, so be sure to get one at the Stone Emporium, or wait for one to randomly drop around the city.
