Escape From Duckov: Bronze Pocket Watch Quest Guide

After you’re done getting acquainted with Ground Zero and start exploring the other maps in Escape From Duckov, your trusty bunker weapons merchant, Xavier, will have a special request for you.

If you have spent any time in Escape From Tarkov, these three words are enough to send a shiver down your mercenary spine: bronze pocket watch. However, unlike Prapor in Tarkov, Xavier does not have any serious sentimental reason for it. To quote the duck himself, ‘don’t ask why’.

Where to Find the Mechanical Key in Escape From Duckov

Per the quest description, and again following in the footsteps of the original game, the legendary bronze pocket watch is in the cabin of a truck hooked to an orange fuel cistern. Finding it is fairly easy if you’ve explored Ground Zero, but that won’t unlock the door for you.

Although it is possible to find the Mechanical Key in the wild, you can skip the faffing about and just purchase it from the comfort of your bunker. The Mechanical Key is available from the Vending Machine for the low price of 660 duck bucks.

To open the truck cabin, you can take the key with you, or log it into the Key Registration Device if you have built it in your bunker.

Where is the Bronze Pocket Watch in Escape From Duckov

The truck you need is located in the southeastern corner of the map, across the river. There are four ways to get there, with varying degrees of danger involved: through the two bridges across the river (marked in orange), via the sewer extract (blue bullseye), or from the northern end.

The latter is the least recommended approach, as it sends you on a cross-country trip through either Small Hill or the scav camp in the ravine, past the northwestern camp, and then right in front of the Road Camp where Pato Chapo and his aggressive mercenary goons hang out.

If you want to take either of the bridges instead, if you haven’t repaired them already, all you have to bring is two units of wood. This is common loot in any toolbox, including those found right by the bridges. You can also buy the materials from the vending machine and bring them with you.

The northern bridge by the Road Camp is a dicey one, as you will almost certainly be met by scavengers from the northern and southern ends of the road, and the gunshots can attract mercs to your location.

If you hug the southern end of the map instead, the bridge past the radio antenna gets you across without much trouble other than a pair of scavengers.

The quickest way to the pocket watch is through the sewers, but that requires you to have unlocked that extract by reaching it from the surface and unblocking the hatch. If you take this route, it’s possible to pop in, get the watch, and go back in less than a minute.

However you choose to reach that bronze pocket watch, retrieving it is a piece of cake. Approach the cabin of the truck with the orange cistern, unlock it with the Mechanical key, loot the watch, and run for your duck life. If you haven’t before, this is the perfect time to push those boxes away from the manhole cover and dive into the safety of the sewers. If only the Tarkov version were this easy.
