Italian indie studio Polyhedric has released their latest title SPEAR on Xbox Series X|S today, offering players a unique adventure set within a collapsing digital world. The game puts players in control of Default, a forgotten NPC who must battle through a corrupted game environment armed with nothing but an improvised spear crafted from a broom handle and a mouse cursor.

The premise centres around a race against time, as the game’s developers are due to return from their lunch break and delete the entire project. This leaves Default with one final opportunity to eliminate the bugs and glitches that are tearing the digital world apart, essentially fighting to save his own existence and the game itself.

SPEAR promises fast-paced, technical combat that relies heavily on precision and timing. Players will need to master a variety of mechanics including precision spear throws, slow-motion sequences, teleportation abilities, parrying, and gliding to navigate through increasingly corrupted levels. The studio emphasises that successful progression requires careful attention to timing, positioning, and fluid movement as the digital environment becomes more unstable.

Early reviews have been positive, with Console Tribe noting that the game “entertains thanks to clever ideas and a very solid variety of situations,” while Filehippo has called it “a must-play title for fans of the genre.” The Indie Game Clinic also praised the title’s diverse mechanics and features.

SPEAR is available now exclusively on Xbox Series X|S. Players interested in learning more about the game can visit Polyhedric’s official channels for additional information and updates.
