Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Release Date Confirmed

Just over a month after Assassin’s Creed franchise Head of Content Jean Guesdon officially confirmed the development of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming next major entry in the AC series has finally reportedly received its official release date as Thursday, July 9th, 2026.

A remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the supposed official release date for Resynced was recently unveiled by Insider Gaming Editor-In-Chief Tom Henderson ahead of the game being formally revealed by Ubisoft next week.

10 Open World Games That Hook You From the First Five Minutes

These 10 open world games instantly grabbed players’ attention within the first five minutes and kept them enthralled for their entire runtime.

According to Henderson, select media and content creators were provided with an early copy of Resynced‘s roughly 30-minute-long reveal presentation on Thursday, April 16th, which disclosed the remake’s summer release date.

The Development and Status of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced

Like many previous AC titles, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced was leaked months ahead of its official confirmation, with information about the game’s development being traced all the way back to 2023.

Information about the remake truly began to surface in 2024, when Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the development of multiple AC remakes alongside brand-new titles such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe.

2025 all but confirmed the development of Resynced as Edward Kenway actor Matt Ryan teased the development of the remake to a fan at Comic Con Manchester, PEGI briefly listed Resynced with an 18 rating before removing the listing, and Ubisoft Singapore was hinted to be overseeing the game’s development, having previously released Skull and Bones.

Resynced was originally expected to launch in March earlier this year to coincide with Ubisoft’s 40th anniversary, but the game, along with six other Ubisoft titles, was delayed while six were canceled, including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, due to the publisher striving to create conditions for a return to sustainable growth.

Multiple signs pointed towards Resynced being initially scheduled to launch in early 2026, as Edward Kenway was heavily featured in AC‘s crossover with RAID: Shadow Legends and was recreated in a statue form by Pure Arts, with the statue being discovered soon after the announcement of delays.

This all culminated this week with rumors of Ubisoft revealing more information and gameplay of the remake soon, with the supposed key art of Resynced being accidentally revealed early via the Ubisoft launcher alongside a description of the game stating, “Set sail for the Caribbean. (Re)Play this classic swashbuckling adventure on Day 1 with Ubisoft+ Premium.”

In terms of gameplay, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is reportedly not an RPG title like the past few mainline AC titles and will instead remain a character-driven experience just like Black Flag was in 2013, but feature combat more akin to that seen in Shadows.

However, the world of Black Flag is expected to have more dynamic weather, similar to the dynamic weather and seasonal changes seen in Shadows, while the story of Resynced is expected to forego the modern-day plotline entirely, letting players relive the pirate-turned-Assassin life of Edward Kenway for the entire game’s runtime.
