
After its successful Early Access launch, Slay the Spire 2 is receiving its first major content update.
Meta Crit confirms that feedback and metrics from the game’s betatesters helped shape the full list of changes. They also remind everyone that “this is still an Early Access game, so just because something made it from the beta to main does not mean it’s set in stone. [Mega Crit] will continue to rely on the experiences of players across both branches (beta and Early Access) to eventually get the game into its final, ideal state, just like with Slay the Spire 1.”

The full list of changes is available on the Slay the Spire 2 Steam page, but Meta Crit has called out some of the more major changes:
- Ascension 6 has been reworked from Gloom – “Less rest sites.” -> Inflation – “Removing cards from your deck at the Merchant is more expensive.”
- All shop relics now cost 25 gold less and gold-generating relics can no longer appear in the shop
- Map generation has been improved and made to be more consistent
- If you return to a run after updating with a newly deprecated card in your deck, it is now replaced with a placeholder Status card – “Draw 1 card. Remove this from your Deck. Exhaust.”
There’s also a brand new card coming to the game, and it includes a first for the series.
Not Yet is the first time we’ve seen a card in Slay the Spire provide an outright heal. Technically, the card Feed (deal 10 damage, if Fatal, raise your Max HP by 3, Exhaust) also healed, but you had to jump through some hoops to make that happen. Not Yet is an unconditional heal.
Despite the Buzz, Some Players Are Frustrated With Slay The Spire 2’s Current Balancing
As is tradition with video games, you can’t make everyone happy, and people are continuing to make their thoughts known.
Despite all the tweaks Mega Crit has done to the game’s balancing, some are still upset with its current state. “The adjustments aren’t enough. Players still have little chance to complete A10. Please continue to weaken the players and strengthen the enemy,” one negative Steam review said.
Nearly every negative review shares this sentiment, pointing out that Slay the Spire 2’s balancing, particularly with Elites, is not on par with its predecessor. It’s important to note, though, that the game is in Early Access, which gives it plenty of time to change and address these issues.
