If you are asking me, Norwegian developer Funcom has been absolutely crushing it recently with shadow-dropping updates for their branded open-world survival experiences. First, they shadow-dropped an Unreal Engine 5 “Enhanced Edition” for 2017’s Conan Exiles. And now, the excellent Dune: Awakening has received “Update 1.4” and “The Water Wars DLC,” which is out now.
Ride your sandworm to new map locations, a challenging new testing station, and five new endgame missions.
Update 1.4 brings players the Wind Pass — formerly a Harkonnen tech hub, this condemned station is now controlled by the Water Shippers, central to Arrakis’ water trade, and an opening to The Water Wars DLC — which is currently available for $12.99 on its own, or $32.50 as part of a Season Pass.
Also part of Update 1.4 is The Old Quarry Testing Station — A scalable new testing station where players confront the devious Dr. Jalanta and face down a new boss with unique mechanics.
To celebrate this new update, Funcom has made it so that you don’t have to sell a lot of Spice to afford Dune: Awakening. In fact, the game is currently on sale — with the base version at $38.99, the Deluxe Edition at $63.99, and the Ultimate Edition at $90.99.
