Embracer Group is Spinning Off Fellowship Entertainment as its Own Company, Formation to be Finalized in 2027

I guess the Embracer Group name is not going away after all as the company has announced it is spinning off Fellowship Entertainment as its own company on Nasdaq Stockholm in 2027 that is set to be the latest game development and publishing home for franchises including The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, Tomb Raider, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Darksiders, Dead Island, Metro, Remnant, and more, according to Game Developer.

If this sounds a little like déjà vu, just a few days shy of a year ago, the company had announced it would spin off 250 of its game studios and publisher brands as Coffee Stain Group and its own publicly traded company by the end of last year. That news at the time also revealed a rebrand of what we knew as Embracer Group in the game publisher world to Fellowship Entertainment, which will house game studios and other entities including Crystal Dynamics, Dark Horse Media, Eidos-Montréal, Fishlabs, Middle-earth Enterprises, Warhorse Studios, and many more.

“I am truly excited about Fellowship Entertainment’s prospects to organically grow substantially over the coming years. I am equally optimistic about the potential of the deep portfolio and selective M&A opportunities for a more focused Embracer,” Embracer Group chair, Lars Wingefors said in a statement.

The recent news reveals that Fellowship Entertainment has effectively split into two businesses, and the remaining part will see the return of the Embracer name which looks to be afforded flexibility than it had with “a more efficient structure, tighter cost control, and disciplined capital allocation” that could look to refocus its resources into other markets like mobile, distribution, retro, and remakes and remasters. The larger Embracer Group entity now is the parent company of four large gaming divisions to including Fellowship Entertainment, Coffee Stain & Friends, Asmodee, and Embracer.

“Embracer will be a natural home for proven entrepreneurs and creative talents, supported by a more efficient structure, with enhanced governance, tighter cost control, and disciplined capital allocation. This will be combined with optionality from structural initiatives, including a continued focus on profitability and M&A, to drive shareholder value,” Embracer Group says in an official statement via a press release.

Fellowship Entertainment is currently under leadership of Embracer Group CEO Phil Rogers, who will continue to be under after the spinoff transition. As for the remaining Embracer business, Embracer Group is currently looking for who will lead its other slice of business and says it is expecting to find someone before Fellowship Entertainment spun off is finalized next year.
