The 2026 Xbox Games Showcase brought us some exciting announcements. Nostalgia struck, for example, with Spyro: A Realm Beyond, which is set to release on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC in spring next year.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Lou Studdert, associate creative director at Toys for Bob, revealed that “since the creation of Reignited, we’ve been hoping to take him (Spyro) further.” The purple dragon has always been on the minds of the studio’s members, who wanted to revisit the franchise.
Additionally, Paul Yan, the head of Toys for Bob, added that Spyro Reignited Trilogy has sold 11 million copies since its release in November 2018. He revealed that the collection, which includes the first three remastered episodes, helped convince Xbox to greenlight Spyro: A Realm Beyond.
