While Dead Island 2 was released over two years ago in 2023, the zombie sequel’s story continued with two robust expansion packs, Haus and SoLA, that featured new missions, weapons, enemies, and even areas to explore.

Now that the game has wrapped up, the developers are ready to move on, and it looks like the story is going to continue.

The studio teased that something special is on the way, as part of the franchise’s 14th anniversary, and confirms we’ll be getting more Dead Island in the future.

Dead Island 3 Kind Of Announced By Dambuster

In an announcement on its Steam page, Dambuster marked the franchise’s 14 years in existence, and how the franchise has amassed over 20 million Slayers!

Adding to the acknowledgment of the franchise’s anniversary, the studio said, “This isn’t the final cut though. Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next.” Adding to it, the studio continued, “For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak is far from over…”

Unless Dambuster is secretly developing more DLC for Dead Island 2, which is highly unlikely given SoLA was released last year, and we haven’t heard anything since then, and the featured image shows your character leaving HELL-A.

Add in the fact that Dead Island 2 sold quite well, and might be one of the few Embracer-owned IPs that are doing well, it’s a no-brainer to see another entry in development.

If you’ve yet to play the game, Dead Island 2 is a worthy successor to the original, as our review mentions, “The Dead Island franchise is more alive than ever with Dead Island 2. The game doesn’t just aim to survive but thrives with its immersive world, endlessly engaging combat, and memorable characters.”

With the studio teasing the next chapter in the game already, could we be hearing about it at The Game Awards later this year? I wouldn’t be surprised if we did. Hopefully, Dambuster continues its stellar work, lest we get another Saints Row situation, where the game released was so bad, it closed the studio.
