Following the remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive will inevitably be under the microscope when it announces its next title. But that pressure doesn’t faze Guillaume Broche, the studio’s CEO and creative director of the RPG.
During a show on Kombini’s YouTube channel, the French developer was asked about the game set to follow Expedition 33. Broche is aware that it might not be well-received, but he doesn’t think it matters.
“I don’t know (if the game will be less popular). I don’t really care (laughs). It’s weird to say, but we didn’t make the first game to please anyone. I think that’s why it worked. For the next game, we’ll also make some drastic decisions, and maybe people won’t like it… Well, that’s life. Whether people follow us or not is their decision. But that’s how we see the future. And I think that’s the healthy way to approach it if we don’t want to be crushed under the pressure.”
Guillaume Broche did add, jokingly, that if Sandfall doesn’t sell a single copy of this famous upcoming game, “we’ll still have problems.” We don’t know whether it will be a new franchise or a brand-new Clair Obscur entry yet.
