Available as a free-to-play game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S since December 2024, UFL seems to be struggling to keep an user base. Thus, Strikerz has been hit by layoffs.

The Russian media outlet App2Top reports that the number of employees has dropped from 450 to 200. According to sources, problems within the company had been “brewing for a long time.” The failure of negotiations to sign a licensing agreement with FIFA is said to have been the trigger for these layoffs. Strikerz had hoped to organize an in-game event in conjunction with the 2026 World Cup.

For now, the layoffs have not been confirmed by the developer.
