It has now been six days since PlayStation went silent on social media. The Japanese company has effectively disappeared from the radar after announcing that it would stop producing physical discs starting in January 2028.
In the meantime, gamers have launched a fierce campaign against this decision. On X, PlayStation’s announcement has generated over 163 million views and is nearing 100,000 comments, each one more scathing than the last.
In addition, a petition posted on Change.org has garnered more than 166,000 signatures as of this writing. It was created to “save physical games” by emphasizing that a disc truly belongs to the player, which is not the case with a digital copy.
