
Japanese manga publisher Kodansha has announced the winners for their 50th Manga Awards on Monday.
This event has been running annually since 1977, with its earliest iteration dating back to 1960. The award is given out in three categories: shounen, shoujo, and general. The winners of each category are as follows:
Best Shounen Manga
Gachiakuta

Other nominees: Utsura nain desu, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, and Ichi the Witch.
Best Shoujo Manga
Re-Living My Life with a Boyfriend Who Doesn’t Remember Me
by Eiko Mutsuhana, Yugiri Aika, Gin Shirakawa
Other nominees: In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, A Star Brighter Than the Sun, and Gazing at the Star Next Door.
Best General Manga
by Shun Umezawa
Other nominees: Spacewalking With You, Nezumi’s First Love, Heisei Haizan-hei Sumire-chan, and Mii-chan and Yamada-san.
As is tradition, winners of each category will receive a certificate, a bronze statuette, and a monetary prize. The shounen and shoujo category winners receive 2 million yen (about US$12,730) each, and winner of the General Manga category will receive 1 million yen (about US$6,365).
