We may know the identity of another studio that Microsoft could shut down or sell in the coming days. As has been discussed in the past, the situation at Arkane Studios is cause for concern.
According to journalist Tom Warren of The Verge, who cites sources close to Xbox, the layoffs carried out by the company will lead to studio closures, spin-offs, and even mergers. Some games will also be canceled.
Furthermore, these same sources indicate that Microsoft is looking to cancel Marvel’s Blade, whose internal target release date has reportedly been pushed back to late 2027. The initial budget has also reportedly been significantly exceeded. The company is reportedly looking to sell Arkane Studios.
Warren adds that the Xbox layoffs will begin on July 6. All divisions of the group are expected to be affected. At least 1,000 jobs could be cut, and five studios could be closed.
